Most bloggers struggle to write great comments.

Posting comments on blogs can ensure you receive traffic back to your own site when done correctly.

Many blog authors will not approve a poor comment, so you have to take the time to add real value and ensure your comment goes live.

Ascertain Your Comment Motive

You should first decide upon the reason you are adding a comment.

Do you intend to drive traffic to your own blog?

Are you trying to build up a relationship with the blog author for a future partnership?

Perhaps you want to establish yourself as an expert in a particular field?

Be sure of the purpose of your comment, try to make one main point and ensure you get it across in the quickest way possible.

Blog comments should not be over long in length.

A blog comment that is too long, will often be skimmed when being read and your point may be missed.

Try to keep comments short and straight to the point.

It is important to make your comment stand out from the crowd when posting on a high traffic blog.

Take advantage of the space you have, do not simply add a big long paragraph, break your comment up by starting new paragraphs which allows for easier reading.

If the blog author replies to your comment, and it is allowed, reply to their comment.

Many blog commentators do not follow up on their comments, they leave a comment and never visit that blog post again.

Be different, visit your previous comments to see if the blog author has responded to you, leave them another comment.#

This can quickly build up a good relationship with the blog author as they know you are actively watching the post and not just after a cheap link to your site.

Try to avoid excessive linking or links in your blog posts.

Blog authors do not like unrelated linking or attempts to steal their readership traffic.

Adding links to your blog comment can often mean your comments automatically alerts spam triggers and dumps your content in the spam folder never to be seen or read by anyone.

There are many blog plugins that allow you to link to a specific site or website address, utilize these rather than linking inside your comment.

Before posting a comment be sure to read it, check for spelling mistakes or grammar errors, you do not want to affect your perceived image or authority because of a silly mistake.

Above all, remember the main purpose of your comment should be to add real value to the blog post.
