What are some good tools to make a website?
A Reader Would Like To Know:
I need some advise on what tools to use to create a website. I have used WYSIWYG is the past, but that was many years ago and it seems that making webpages is a little more mature now. Does anyone know of any good tools or resources to use? Like possibly wordpress? i don’t need to worry about getting a domain or hosting it, just something to build my content in, and hopefully very user friendly.

Without a doubt, go with WordPress. I fought WordPress with tooth and nail for several years until I started playing around with it and saw it’s potential. It’s got to be the positively fastest way to deploy a site.
There’s no messing around with navigation. You don’t have to worry about modifying a layout and then manually changing all of your pages. That’s got to be the biggest time saver right there.
And if that wasn’t exciting enough, then I started making my own WordPress themes and I didn’t know a stinking thing about coding! I downloaded a copy of Artisteer and I was hooked. It’s as easy to use as a word processor – even easier. All the code is built in the background.
You’ve heard of swipe files? That’s when you find something cool and save it in a folder for when you need it. I do that with web page layouts. Then when I feel like building a new WordPress theme, I whip out my swipe file and replicate the design in Artisteer. I can usually come pretty close. I’ve got a nifty little color picker so I can even replicate the website’s colors. I LOVE Artisteer. I’d never go back to Expression Web again.
