Are there any stripped-bare blogging softwares?

A Reader Would Like To Know:

I’m looking for something with an easy install, that can be easily incorporated into an existing html/css design.

Preferably, to add items I would simply add information into the various fields (title, body, date) on a dashboard.

I don’t mind installing something on my servers, but I need it to fit my existing design, I don’t want to have to build a WordPress template…

Does such a thing exist?
…by “stripped bare” I mean that I don’t need any fancy widgets, etc. Commenting features would be optional.

There’s really no such thing as stripped bare blogging software. I think perhaps you might mean a minimalistic blogging theme instead?

Get yourself some good cPanel web hosting and use Fantastico to do a 1-click WordPress install. WordPress is the best blogging platform. Then find yourself a minimalistic WordPress theme, perhaps with an editable header. The new default Twenty Ten theme is a great start. It also has a sidebar-less page template for pages, (not posts) so you can make pages just like an HTML site that don’t look like a blog.

If you can’t find a good theme, then I suggest getting Artisteer to make your own WordPress themes. I’ve been using it for over 1-1/2 years and I love it. You can easily take a header from your HTML site and use it with an Artisteer theme so the look and feel is the same.

Plus, the new menuing system in WordPress makes setting up menus soooo easy. You can include pages, posts, categories, custom links and even tags as menu items.

I don’t even build HTML sites anymore. I only use Artisteer to build my themes and WordPress.

I have a binder filled with screen prints of website layouts that I collect. When I want to build a new WordPress theme I look through the binder and replicate the site in Artisteer. I have a little color picker that I use to go to the website to snag the website’s colors and use them on my theme.
