How do I create a static page in wordpress?
Question:
I am trying to create an “about me” page and a couple others. I created a new page but instead of looking like a static page it has a date at the top and it tries to put the page into the category. Here is my site so you can see for yourself exactly what I am talking about. michaeljdunnDOTcom
Does anybody know why it is doing this?

Question:
Somehow I feel this is the case, but is this true?

WordPress Editor Toolbar Missing, Widgets Won’t Open
Problem: You go to write or edit a WordPress post or page and the editor tool bar (tinymce) is missing. You click on the Visual and HTML tabs and nothing happens. You try to open widgets in the sidebar and they won’t open, nor can you drag them in or out of the sidebar.
Last month I had a meltdown on my web hosting account that was completely my fault. Luckily, the tech team at SuperGreen Hosting saved my butt. 29 of my blogs were damaged, but all’s cool now.
Due to the problems described above, I notice the ’Error on page’ icon in the lower left corner of the IE browser. Double-clicking on it gave me all kinds of errors like object not found, object doesn’t exist or object expected type of errors regarding .js files in the wp-includes folder. Yet, the files were all there.
I downloaded WordPress from www.WordPress.org and extracted it on my hard drive and copied the “missing” files up to the blogs. A month ago when this all happened, that solved the problem. Last night I ran into the problem again on one of my blogs, only this time replacing the files didn’t work. After several hours of searching, I found something that did work and I thought I’d share it just in case someone else has this same problem.
Solution: On the WordPress form (you can click that link for the thread), moderator Otto42 said there is a javascript compression issue and to install the Use Google Libraries plugin. BAMM! Problem solved. That brought the editor toolbar back and all the widgets were now free to move about the cabin. I really have to respect the people who know that stuff.
Easily Change a WordPress Post Into a Page, and Back
Have you ever created a WordPress post and wish it had been a page instead so it would show up in the navigation menus? Or have you ever created a page, thinking it was a good idea at the time, and now you want it to be a post? Or maybe you’re re-doing your theme and you’d like to do a little housekeeping by changing your navigation structure? I know I have countless times.
Back in the day I’d copy the post and paste its contents into a page, but then naming it became a problem and I’d end up with borken links. I suppose I could have gone into phpMyAdmin and converted the raw table data, but I’d have to do some research to make sure I was getting it right because there’s a lot of half-baked information online from wannabe programmers.
Here’s how to EASILY change a WordPress post to a page or a page to a post without programming or busting your permalinks.
Plugin(s) You’ll Need:
This post to page (and vice versa) converter is a snap to use and it won’t break your permalinks. After installation, you’ll get a spiffy little button on both the post/page editor page in the right sidebar and on the post/page listing page on the right side. Just a click of the button and BAMM! Presto-Changeo.
Just remember, if you convert a post into a page, then the page will appear in the navigation menu unless you exclude it from the menus.
